Literary Lakeland
We'll begin with a guided tour of William Wordsworth's Dove Cottage at Grasmere, followed by a wander round picturesque Hawkshead village where the famous poet went to school. Then to the Beatrix Potter Gallery to see the original watercolours that illustrated her delightful children's stories, and onward to Hilltop, her former home near Sawrey. We finish with a visit to Brantwood, John Ruskin's house at Coniston, and a boat-trip across the lake on a Victorian steamer.

Christian Heritage
Beginning at the 'Auld Grey Town' of Kendal, once famous for its green cloth, we'll take in 13th-century Holy Trinity Church, the widest parish church in England, where the family of Henry VIII's queen Katherine Parr is thought to have worshipped, and see the Quaker Tapestry in the Meeting House nearby. Thence to the charming Edwardian seaside town of Grange-over-Sands and on to Cartmel, to visit the 12th-century Priory church known as 'the Cathedral of the Lakes'. Finally, we'll drive towards Ulverston for a tour of Swathmoor Hall, the one-time home of George Fox who founded the Quaker movement in 1652.
