South Cornwall
Starting from Penzance, let's strike out for Land's End, the westernmost point of mainland England. You can have your photo taken, enjoy the views of the Longships Lighthouse and see if you can spot the legendary lost land of Lyonesse, mentioned in Arthurian literature. Then we'll move on to the once-quiet fishing village of St Ives, which is now a charming, fashionable town with its own Tate Gallery specialising in the works of artists who have lived in or been inspired by the area. Finally, we can visit the historic, romantic St Michael's Mount. Walk across the causeway to the island (or take a motor boat if the tide's in), climb the cobbled street to explore the mediaeval castle and church, visit the island's lovely sub-tropical hanging gardens, and enjoy stunning views across Mount's Bay back to Penzance.
Mid-Cornwall
Talk about a bit of everything! Around St Austell, we'll discover the history of the Cornish china clay industry. At the Eden Project, we'll experience the nature of the world. And in Falmouth we'll visit the informative and eccentric Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle, which has been an important defence for centuries. We should also make time for a meal at one of Falmouth's renowned fish restaurants, so highly-rated that London foodies fly down for lunch!
Cornwall's roads are pretty but pretty winding, so what looks like a short distance on a map can turn into quite an expedition! And there's so much to see, from wild Bodmin Moor in the north, to the romantic Helford Passage in the south... For more information on options, charges and booking please contact us
